Detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus from broiler carcasses in Mosul city

Staphylococcus (S.) aureus is deemed as one of the main pathogens in human and animals. S. can produce various toxins that usually implicated food poisoning. could possess mecA gene, which principle cause β-lactam antibiotics resistance, particularly methicillin-resistant (MRSA). Broiler’s meat worthy for humans, but it may expose to contamination with MRSA during poultry processes slaughterhouse. The current study aimed assessment spread broiler carcasses via detection nuc gene their resistance different antibiotics. Fifty skin swabs were taken from broilers carcasses, processing slaughterhouses scattered districts Nineveh Governorate period between January April 2020. results showed was recovered broiler’s at a percentage 66% (33/50) confirmed by while isolates constitute 40% (20/50) all isolates, distinguished possessing gene. All resistant Ampicillin/Sulbactam, Methicillin, Ampicillin/Cloxacillin present stressed on reduction much any possible source including post processing, through applying high levels hygienic conditions premises attain standards sustainability public health standards.
